Spectral Shapers, Delay Trio, Freesound RTAS/Mac

An update to the last posting. RTAS versions of all plugins for Macintosh are complete and tested. These have been tested with ProTools 8 & 9. You can download the new installers for RTAS/AU/VST from the freeware and spectral shapers pages, or from here:

All updated Mac plugins

I have still to update the Windows plugins, but that is typically a quick process – hopefully next weekend. And after that, I should be able to release the new PvocKit plugins!

Spectral Shapers – Pvoc Kit – Freeware Plugs

I am now working on new versions of all of the plugins. Right now squashing all known bugs, and getting things up to date with the current Live, Logic and PT (8,9,9).

Also making the first steps to converting all plugins to 64-bit. These will be offered in parallel – 32 bit plugs will remain available.

SoundHack PD & Max Externs

We have just released the first complete version of the SoundHack externals for PD & Max. These externals replicate most of the SoundHack plugins and are offered free of charge. Included in this collection are externals for amplitude shaping and distortion (+compand~, +chebyshev~ & +decimate~), single-head, multi-head, pitchshifting and granular delays (+delay~, +pitchdelay~, +bubbler~), and the spectral shapers, a set of spectral filters and dynamics processors (+binaural~, +morphfilter~, +spectralcompand~ & +spectralgate~). This package is available here.

As this is the first release, we expect bugs – don’t hesitate to write us at support at soundhack.com.
These externals were programmed by William Brent, Tom Erbe, Daniel Arias, Bryan Oczkowski and Trevor LeVieux. Big thanks to the UC San Diego Department of Music and the Center for Research in Computing and the Arts for their support.

SoundHack Spectral Shapers – 1.30 Release

Minor update – fixes the number of bands (eventually this will be variable). Lots of updates to the AudioUnit parameter handling – this should work much better in SoundTrack Pro and Logic.

SoundHack Spectral Shapers – 1.29 Release

SoundHack Spectral Shapers version 1.29 has just been released for Mac and Windows. This version fixes many small bugs, and is now compatible with current versions of Logic Pro and ProTools. It can be downloaded here.

Windows users may want to install .NET 3.5 before installing the plugins, as they are dependent on these libraries.

SoundHack Delay Trio – Freeware Release

+delay, +bubbler and +pitchdelay are out!

This is a group of three plugins that I developed as class demonstrations while teaching computer music and studio technique at UC San Diego. All of these are derived from the same basic delay algorithm: a hermite interpolated delay line with variable modulation, and a feedback loop with dc blocking and saturation. Pitch shifting is achieved with a dual head crossfading delay (ala Eltro Tempophon/Dennis Gabor/Pierre Schaeffer phonogene) and is decidedly low-fi. The saturating feedback also allows them to be great drone and noise generators.

Version 6.06 has been released. It fixes some initialization problems with +pitchdelay in VST and RTAS formats. Go to the freeware page to download.
